Network Activities

Apart from conference preparation (including negotiations on joint sessions with other networks) there have been no further activities during the course of the past year. The link convenor has wanted to contribute to the EERA history project undertaken by Martin Lawn, but has not had the resources to do so.

At the network business meeting initiatives were discussed. One such initiative, which had also been discussed the previous year, related to the network arranging a doctoral course in education policy with a focus on methodology issues. Another was to arrange some kind of network newsletter or other media for circulating information. It was suggested that this could be done through social media like facebook or linkedin. The network convenors will pursue this. In addition, it was pointed to the importance of introducing new and junior researchers to the network, and some activities in this area (such as advertising contact persons and/or conference mentoring) were also discussed. A further initiative was a network dinner at next conference. The convenors had attempted to organize this at the 2011 conference, but the logistics of planning at a distance had been too difficult.
