Last year’s decision that the network should edit a special issue of the EERJ has been carried through with Helen Wildy and Simon Clarke,  as editors. The network was represented by 6 articles. Thanks to Helen and Simon for doing a great job!

Last year we discussed how to get more focus in the presented papers. It may be difficult because it seems important that we, the network members, have a broad platform to present ideas, new research, and to be able to use the network as a discussion forum.  No concrete initiatives were taken up to this year’s conference. At the network meeting we agreed that a way to get this focus could be to arrange a cross network symposium. Olof Johansson olof.johansson@pol.umu.se volunteered to for an arranging a cross network symposium for the next ECER in Helsinki.

There were several propositions for focused presentations:

  • Leaders and cultural changes
  • Leadership and underperforming schools
  • Leadership in small schools
  • How can leaders lead professions?
  • Leadership beyond the school: Leadership in a political context

Future Plans

There was a wish to prepare the Network Project Funding Application and submit it to the EERA Council. In the application we must specify: How will the project further European Educational Research in accordance with EERA’s objectives? How the project will contribute, support and develop your Network’s initiatives? And we have to provide timeframe in which the project should be completed and aims and expected outcomes.
The title of the project might be: Improving Network 26. by communication tools: homepage, etc.  Joanna Mchalak and volunteered for the job to prepare applying for funding the work with the home page.
As a Network group we have to find the person who would like to be project leader.  Joanna is not able to take this responsibility at present time, because she is involved in a lot of duties. So therefore we need a person that will volunteer for the job if we are going to a web-site for network 26.

Network Funding

The EERA Council has started an initiative to fund network activities. Networks may apply for funding one month prior to EERA Council Meetings. All projects fostering the aim and objectives of EERA and the applying network are welcome.
