Network Activities and Plans for Development
We wrote a reflexive paper on the history and work of Network 7: Bhatti, G.& Leeman, Y. (2011) "Convening a network within the European Conference on Educational Research: A History of the Social Justice and Intercultural Education Network." EERJ European Educational Research Journal 10 (1) 129-142. Available here: dx.doi.org/10.2304/eerj.2011.10.1.129
During the course of the year we circulated information on a mailing list. The mailing list is open to presenters of network 7, especially to all those who attend the network business meeting. One can enroll for the mailing list during the business meeting at each ECER or by contacting the convenors.
Future Plans
We will look into the possibilities for a summer course and joint research activities.
Previous Network Activities
"Social Justice and Intercultural Education: an open-ended dialogue",
Trentham May 2007.
At ECER 2007 a book was presented to participants during the Network Business Meeting. The network convenors had edited this Network book based on a selection of papers from ECER 2004 and ECER 2005.
"Social Justice and Intercultural Education: an open-ended dialogue" was published by Trentham in May 2007.
The network book acknowledges and represents the rich complexity presented by the notions of both “intercultural education” and “intercultural practices” intertwined with ideas of justice as seen, experienced and explored by educational researchers in Europe today.
Network convenors were invited to present the book at the 13th World Congress of Comparative Education Societies, held at the University of Sarajevo in September 2007. The special roundtable where the book was presented was directly related to the conference theme “Living Together”: Education and Intercultural Dialogue.
